To the Bride, her wedding day is about more than the marriage to the man she will spend the rest of her life with. It’s the one day she is the center of attention. All eyes are on her. She is photographed, videotaped, ogled, and adored by hundreds. Her desire, of course, is to be the most beautiful woman in the room, in each and every photograph, in candid moments or in a group shot, she wants to look and feel glowing, stunning, and beautiful.
For the woman with acne or skin problems, putting her best face forward on this special day can be uncomfortable, scary or downright paralyzing. She spends more time checking her makeup in the mirror to be sure her blemishes are covered than she does on the dance floor with her handsome new husband. At Serenity Spa, we understand for a woman to feel as beautiful as she looks, the condition of her skin can make the difference. Sure, the right makeup can cover a multitude of sins, but with today’s Hi- definition photography and video, the heavy makeup will detract from the beauty of the woman beneath the mask. Not to mention, the wedding night, the honeymoon at the beach and the rest of her life!
By starting a skin care routine and treatment plan at least 2 months before the wedding, the beautiful bride can have that fresh, glowing, “It’s my wedding day!” look long in to her silver anniversary. They say that a journey of a thousand miles begins with just one step. Follow these steps to ensure your journey through wedded bliss begins with confidence!
It all starts with the Skin!
Begin your journey with a consultation with a licensed aesthetician at a reputable salon or spa. At Serenity Spa we offer complimentary consultations with experienced aestheticians. We determine your goals and challenges and establish a treatment plan to address your concerns. Most women, whether acne prone, dehydrated, dry, sun-damaged or aging skin, need some sort of rapid exfoliation with either a glycolic peel or a microdermabrasion series to change the skin. They also need a comprehensive skin care routine with professional or prescription grade skin care products. Problem skin can be challenging to treat. Spending hundreds on over the counter or infomercial products can leave you feeling frustrated and broke! Take the time to establish a relationship with a skin care professional 2-6 months before your big day. Costs of professional peels can run from $300-400 for a series of 6 glycolic facials, $700-800 for a Microdermabrasion series (check out our Ultimate Facial series before and after pics!).
An Aesthetician in Kentucky can offer glycolic peels up to 50%. At Serenity, we take a conservative approach to skin care. We want you to achieve results over time so you you have no risk of infection, which equals no down time (like having to stay home while your face peels off for a week or two). With our glycolic series, for instance, we begin with a 30% glycolic peel at your first facial. Each week we determine if we can add time to the treatment or increase the percentage of the glycolic. As your skin becomes stronger and healthier (with fewer breakouts!) we can customize your treatments with lactic acid, salicylic, benzoil peroxide and other treatments. With this approach, you get gradual results, are never red or peeling. No one will even know you’re getting treatments other than noticing your beautiful, radiant skin.
We can move more aggressively by adding prescription strength skin care such as Dermesse. If you don’t mind a little peeling, you can use the combination of the Dermesse Clarifying System, Hydroquinone and or Tretinoin to have clear skin, fast. Dermatologists and Plastic Surgeons can offer even more aggressive treatments for a quick change. The upside to a 70% glycolic, laser treatment, etc. is the results are quick. There is more risk and more downtime though, so if you choose this route, make sure you understand the side effects you can experience. In most cities, an aesthetician can give you great results, at a moderate cost, with very little risk.
